About Me
Counsellor & Psychotherapist
Integrative, holistic counselling & psychotherapy in East Devon
My name is Belinda Gidman-Rowse (MCAP, MNCPS Acc.). I’m an integrative, holistic, woman-centered Counsellor & Psychotherapist based in East Devon.
Supporting women through major life transitions
Whether you’re grappling with grief from years of fertility treatment, or needing to process some birth trauma, or struggling to find your feet as a new mum, I’m here to help you feel calmer, confident and stronger in yourself again as you navigate this season of life.
High functioning burnt out mums not feeling good enough
The women I work with are often high functioning, perfectionist and burnt out. They’re often experiencing a sense of being not good enough. Something that comes up time and time again is the feeling of guilt at not being able to juggle everything. I can help you work through this.
My motherhood journey
Therapist and mother
As a mum of three children, including twins, I have personal and ongoing experience of the multifaceted experience of motherhood. I’ve experienced the highs and lows, the challenges and heart-expanding joy.
Emerging from matrescence
I know what it’s like to feel sleep deprived, touched out, scared from intrusive thoughts, resentful of your partner and wracked with guilt, wondering if you’re doing it “right”. I’ve also encountered the huge identity loss and shifts that occur during matrescence and have slowly pieced a new version of myself from this process.
Lived experience
I have also had some transformative experiences in my own personal therapy, using Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR therapy. I bring my deep understanding and lived experience of all this to my therapy work. I am here to walk alongside you on your journey.
Clinical Experience
Perinatal Mental Health
I have experience working in perinatal mental health and am a co-host of the Exeter/East Devon PANDAS peer support perinatal mental health group. We support parents struggling with perinatal anxiety, depression and mental health challenges by providing a nurturing, supportive and non-judgemental space to connect. Through this I have received extensive perinatal mental health training and safeguarding training. I am also DBS certified.
Founder of Grow Psychotherapy
I established Grow Psychotherapy in 2023 and have been supporting women through life transitions, especially new and expecting mums as they navigate early motherhood and matrescence ever since. I offer online and in-person counselling & psychotherapy in East Devon.
School Counsellor
Alongside my private practice work, I am a School Counsellor with Place2Be. I work with children between ages 6 - 11, providing one-to-one therapy, solutions-focused drop-in sessions and group work for building resilience and emotional wellbeing skills. I work closely with parents to support them with their parenting experiences. I also support the staff, providing reflective spaces to support their teaching capacity.
If you’re wondering whether we might work well together, please get in touch. I am currently accepting new clients.
