About Me
Counsellor & Psychotherapist
My name is Belinda Gidman-Rowse (MNCPS Acc.). I’m an integrative, holistic, woman-centered Counsellor & Psychotherapist based in East Devon.
I support women through major life transitions. Whether you’re grappling with grief from years of fertility treatment, or needing to process some birth trauma, or struggling to find your feet as a new mum, I’m here to help you feel calmer, confident and stronger in yourself again as you navigate this season of life.
The women I work with are often experiencing a sense of being not good enough. Something that comes up time and time again is the feeling of guilt at not being able to juggle everything. I can help you work through this.
Lived Experience
I am a therapist and a mother. As a mother of three children, including twins, I have personal experience of the multifaceted experience of motherhood. I know what it’s like to try and keep all the plates spinning and feel like you’re never meeting anyone’s needs, including your own.
I have felt guilt, grief, isolation, rage, resentment and much more during my time as a mother so far. I have navigated relationship challenges, changes in friendships, family illness, bereavement, shifts in my career and an international relocation.
I have also had some transformative experiences in my own personal therapy, using Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR therapy.
I bring my deep understanding and lived experience of all this to my therapy work. I am here to walk alongside you on your journey.
Clinical Experience
I hold a Masters in Counselling & Psychotherapy, am registered with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and have spent over 100 hours face-to-face with clients in locations in England and Australia.
My main work to date has been at the Cairnmillar Community Clinic where I’ve worked with people from age 7 - 92, supporting them through anxiety, depression, complex trauma, existential issues and career transitions.
I am currently a Mental Health Practitioner / School Counsellor at a Primary School in North Devon with Place2Be. I work with children between ages 6 - 11, providing one-to-one therapy, solutions-focused drop-in sessions and group work for building resilience and emotional wellbeing skills. I also support the staff, providing reflective spaces to support their teaching capacity.
Alongside this, I am a volunteer with PANDAS (perinatal mental health support organisation) as a co-host of the Exeter/East Devon peer support group. We support parents who may be struggling with perinatal anxiety, depression and general mental health challenges by providing a nurturing, supportive and non-judgemental space to connect with self and others.
I established Grow Psychotherapy in 2023 and have been supporting women through life transitions, especially new and expecting mums as they navigate early motherhood and matrescence.
If you’re wondering whether we might work well together, please get in touch. I am currently accepting new clients online and in-person in East Devon.
